Introducing Overture3D New PETG Filament: Prints the Way It Should

PETG has always been a practical material choice - stronger than PLA, durable as ABS, and versatile enough for everything from functional parts to everyday prints.

For many makers, however, those advantages came with trade-offs: persistent stringing, limited stability at higher speeds, and inconsistent results on longer prints. The new Overture3D PETG is designed to address these issues directly, delivering a more reliable printing experience without sacrificing the strengths PETG is known for.

🧩Smoother Surfaces, Consistent Results Without Compromise

While maintaining PETG’s durability, the upgraded Overture3D PETG delivers noticeably smoother surfaces and more uniform layer formation straight off the printer.

Higher stiffness plays a key role here. With bending modulus increased by nearly 100% in the X-Y direction, layers settle more evenly during cooling, reducing waviness and surface irregularities. Improved interlayer strength - with Z-direction tensile strength increased by more than 17% - ensures surface quality does not come at the expense of structural reliability.

Long prints benefit the most. With more consistent material behavior over time, surface quality remains stable from the first layer to the last, reducing the risk of mid-print defects or visual degradation.

🧩 Cleaner Printing Starts with More Stable Material Properties

The new Overture3D PETG addresses the most common PETG frustrations - stringing, by delivering more stable extrusion and cooling behavior throughout the entire print.

Makers will notice cleaner travel moves with visibly reduced stringing and oozing, especially on complex geometries. Extrusion feels more controlled, helping minimize surface artifacts and uneven texture between layers.

Behind this improvement is a more balanced mechanical profile. Increased stiffness with up to ~15–20% higher tensile stiffness than current PETG in the X-Y direction. At the same time, greatly improved toughness reduces brittle behavior during retraction and restart, contributing to cleaner transitions and more predictable extrusion.

The result is a Overture3D New PETG that requires less tuning and behaves more consistently, letting you focus on design rather than debugging.

💡Maker tip: Like all PETG, best results are achieved when the filament is kept dry. For optimal performance, we recommend drying the new Overture3D PETG at 60 °C for about 5 hours before printing.

🚀 Built for Speed: 6x Faster than Current PETG

The new Overture3D PETG is engineered for modern high-speed printing, without sacrificing mechanical performance.

Stronger layer bonding is a critical factor at speed. With Z-direction tensile strength improved by over 17% and bending strength increased by up to ~45% in the X-Y direction, layers remain well bonded even under rapid extrusion. Increased stiffness helps maintain dimensional accuracy, while a 4× increase in impact strength significantly improves resistance to cracking during fast print-and-cool cycles.

Under optimal conditions and with a suitable high-flow setup, the material supports print speeds up to 6× faster than current PETG, with a recommended nozzle temperature range of 230–260 °C to maintain smooth flow and strong adhesion.

With an upgraded recommended working speed range of up to 300 mm/s (compared to the previous 30–50 mm/s), this PETG establishes a faster, more reliable baseline for high-throughput printing.

⚙️Recommended Settings
  • Nozzle Temperature: 230-260℃
  • Drying Temperature/Time: 60℃ / 5 hours
  • Build Plate Temperature: 65-70℃
  • Cooling Fan: Turned on
📦 A New Look Packaging Upgrade

Alongside the propeties upgrade, we’ve also integrated improvements to the material protection and the spool design itself. And the packaging still features enhanced moisture protection and improved sealing to help maintain filament quality right out of the box.

  • Introducing the New Spool: The new Overture PETG debuts with an upgraded spool designed for better handling and performance on various machines.
  • Clear Labeling: Clearer labeling for easier identification and inventory management.

Below are a few prints made with the new Overture3D PETG, showcasing the surface finish, detail retention, and consistency you can expect in real-world use.
